Unusual tips for Dubai Vol.2.

As we wrote in our Unusual Tips for Dubai Vol1 article, Dubai's attractions are listed in many guidebooks and websites. Even a novice tourist can tell you by heart what the next famous places to visit are after the Burj Khalifa and the Burj Al Arab.

As we both have many years of experience of living in the Emirates, we thought you might find it useful to share our favourite places with you. So we're not writing about the big-name attractions in this series, but the places dear to our hearts.

So for the second part of our series, let's take a look at a beautiful beach and a restaurant there.

La Mer Beach

La Mer Beach is a huge, free to use, developed beach section in Dubai.

It's perfect if you're running out with a towel for an hour of sunbathing and swimming, and you'll also find the fun you're looking for if you want to spend a whole day out with family or friends.

This purpose-built seaside resort offers a range of sports to try, and sunbed and towel hire ensures that even if you're walking out with just a handbag, you can still enjoy a day out in maximum comfort.

Toilets, changing rooms, open and indoor showers ensure bathers' comfort.

The beach area is very modern with buildings, a great place for taking photos/ selfies.

Those with small children will find the right entertainment for their children, but those who want to play sports and relax will have just as much fun.

Aprons & Hammers

We know that it's not customary to translate the name of a restaurant, but there's nothing you can do, it sounds so good.

Aprons & Hammers is a multiple award-winning restaurant in the La Mer area.

Set in a rustic building and with an extra fresh offer, everyone will find their choice and leave with a full belly.

The restaurant is especially nice to be able to sit outside on the terrace on non-sunny days, and admire the prominent buildings of Sheyk Zayed Road behind the beautiful lighting of La Mer.

All in all, we recommend checking out La Mer even if you don't have the time or inclination to go for a swim, as the views and photo opportunities alone are worth the time.
